Review: the Blue Horizon Hotel in Vancouver, Canada
In Vancouver? Then you might want to go for Blue Horizon Hotel in Vancouver to stay at! Nice rooms and lively neighbourhood, perfect location!
It is 11:30 when we land in Vancouver.
Still a bit dizzy from our 11 hour flight from Frankfurt with Air Canada.
Let’s hope that our room at the Blue Horizon Hotel in Vancouver is already available!
The coffee right before landing was great, but will it keep us going for the rest of the day?
An hour later at baggage claim and one piece of our luggage hasn’t arrived yet.
We go to lost luggage, a staff member writes down our info and tells us that the luggage will be delivered tomorrow at our hotel.
Let’s hope it is true!
The Blue Horizon Hotel does not have a shuttle service to and from the airport, but it is very easy to grab a taxi outside the airport that will bring you to any place downtown for about CA$38.
We paid for our stay at the Blue Horizon Hotel in Vancouver and didn’t get or ask anything in return for this review.

We made a video of our stay at the Blue Horizon Hotel in Vancouver.

Blue Horizon Hotel in Vancouver
The Blue Horizon Hotel is located on Robson Street.
From Vancouver National Airport the hotel is a 40 minute drive away.
Robson Street is one of Vancouver’s oldest shopping districts.
It is a very lively neighbourhood with lots of shops, posh boutiques, eateries, restaurants and coffee bars all around it.
Parking
On the left side of the Blue Hotel entrance on Robson Street is the hotel parking entrance.
The parking height is 6 feet 2 inches.
We didn’t use the parking lot but asked how much it was anyway to add to this review.
You can parking your car here at the hotel for CA$20.95 per day plus taxes. Before parking, register your vehicle’s license plate number with the Front Desk.
Reception
We arrive at the hotel at 1:30pm.
Checkin in at 3pm, checkout at 11am.
We silently hope that our room will be ready by now, we could really use some rest and a good hot shower.
We check in, the friendly lady behind the reception desk has us sign some paperwork related to our booking and hands us our room keys.
The reception area isn’t large and it can get pretty busy during checkin and checkout, however the staff is quick and helpful.
In the same area is also the internet corner.
On the right hand side of the reception right in front of the entrance is a sitting area that leads to the elevators. A microwave is available for guests here, and a refill station of drinking water as well.
Watch our video from 1:03 onwards to see what the entrance and reception look like exactly.
Room
The Blue Horizon Hotel in Vancouver has 31 floors.
Our King Plus Water View and Balcony room 2705 is located on the 27th floor.
One time we were standing in the elevator with other hotel guests who were going to a much lower floor and they said: ‘Wow, floor 27! You must have an incredible view!’
Exactly.
Watch our video from 1:49 onwards to see what our room looks like exactly.
Bedroom
As soon as you step into the room, the light is the first thing that stands out.
Room 2705 is a corner room and has windows on 2 sides.
The windows and then that view, that is what draws you in.
The bedroom is very spacious.
The high bed on the left side looks very comfortable and so do the fluffy looking pillows.
On both sides are bedside tables with 2 adaptive power sockets and 2 UBS ports.
The room is quite nicely decorated with beige, brown and blue colors everywhere. The furnishings and carpet are a little dated.
It’s just a pity that the air conditioning is so ugly, loud and totally outdated. It has only two positions: very hard or off. The air con turned on and off all night. That was not only disruptive to sleep, but an ice-cold airflow over you every time is not pleasant either.
Opposite the bed near the large windows is a sitting area with a comfortable couch, a chair and a coffee table.
Backed up against the couch is a large desk with chair.
All in all, we immediately feel at home in this spacious and comfortable room.
That view keeps attracting your attention.
This is not a cheap room though, we paid CA$1710 (or $1230) for 4 nights for a King Plus Water View and Balcony room here at the Blue Horizon Hotel in Vancouver.
But so far so good, let’s see what’s also in this room!
Let’s move a little backwards for now.
Behind the desk is a wardrobe that contains 2 bathrobes, a safe, a couple of shelves, an iron board and iron and clothes hangers. The space below it all is large enough to store your luggage.
Next to the wardrobe is a tea and coffee corner containing a water boiler, ice bucket and fridge.
The coffee machine comes with 2 cups and 4 Nespresso coffee capsules.
Also available are teabags, powdered milk and a bottle opener.
Used coffee capsules were restocked daily.
Bathroom
The bathroom is immediately to your left when you walk in this room.
It is a rather small space but clean and efficient.
There is one large sink, soft towels on the shelves, body lotion, a hair dryer, a box of Kleenex and plenty of toilet paper.
We loved the walkin shower, it had instant hot water and very good water pressure.
The shower gel and shampoo were very fragrant and enjoyable.
Breakfast
On the ground floor level on the other side of the entrance is the Abode breakfast restaurant.
It is open from Monday until Friday from 6:30am until 11:30am, and on Saturdays and Sundays from 7am until 2pm.
Breakfast here in the Blue Horizon Hotel in Vancouver is not included in the room price.
You can check their breakfast menu below.
We preferred to grab breakfast somewhere else in the neighbourhood, there is a wide choice of coffee bars and breakfast spots all around the hotel.
Gym and swimming pool
The Blue Horizon Hotel in Vancouver has a gym and swimming pool area.
It is located one floor up from the reception.
There’s also a whirlpool, steam room, exercise areas with cardio machines, free weights and quiet stretching areas.
The gym and swimming pool area is open from 6am until 8pm.
Wifi
The internet connection at the Pan Pacific Hotel London was very good.
Would we go back to Blue Horizon Hotel in Vancouver?
Yes, we would definitely come back here.
The location and neighborhood is absolutely great, plenty of choice for breakfast, lunch and dinner all around the hotel. Shops too.
The rooms are nice (albeit a little bit worn), and the view we had was stunning.
The staff is helpful and friendly.
Our lost piece of luggage did make it to our hotel 2 days later by the way, and when informed about our problem the receptionist told us that she would leave a message when it arrived – which she did.
Good hotel, good choice!
